Local FFA Lends A Helping Hand

Last week you may have noticed a change of scenery throughout the Oakland countryside. Central Valley Ag and Monsanto recruited Oakland-Craig FFA Students to put up over 200 field signs. Students who participated included Josh King, Tyler Weitzenkamp, Olivia Bures, Cody Mallette, Natalie Dixon, Paige Stammer and Elizabeth Moseman. As a reward for their hard work CVA and Monsanto donated $1,000.00 to the Oakland-Craig FFA Chapter.

“Not only are we grateful for the donation to the chapter, but I was especially happy that students gained real experience in agricultural marketing,” said Kylie Penke, Oakland-Craig FFA Advisor. “This opportunity lead to good discussions about internships and marketing strategies. Students also honed their map reading, decision making and teamwork skills. I definitely want to thank, Kelsey Johnson (Monsanto Intern), Monsanto and CVA for providing such a great experience for our students. Thank you also to the FFA members who readily volunteered to spend a day helping their community and chapter. We have great kids in our program!”
