The fall weather couldn't have been better for a land judging contest. Fifteen FFA Chapters from High Schools all around Leigh Nebraska gathered to participate in this educational event. Central Valley Ag's CEO Doug Derscheid and the majority of CVA's management team was there too. CVA brought in Jim Welch to give a presentation to the students on the subjects of choosing agriculture as a career and leadership in the future. As President and Founder of “The Growth Leader, Inc.”, Jim is a member of FIVE STAR Speakers and the National Speakers Association working with many Fortune 500 global clients and organizations across several industries including the Hallmark Gold Crown independent store network, Wal-Mart, Walgreens, CVS, Disney, Mattel, Warner Brothers and many others.
Over 250 students were in attendance. All received a CVA/FFA co-branded tee-shirt and the president of each of the 15 FFA Chapters was presented with a backpack by Reed Nelsen, V.P. Marketing. Central Valley Ag Cooperative is actively involved with the FFA Chapters in its trade area and is committed to supporting the future of agriculture.

The York FFA is a very active organization at school and in the community. The organization is present at numerous school and community functions, fundraisers and, of course, the county fair.
Their presence at these various events will certainly be notice now more than ever, as the group recently received two new all-weather signs with their Chapter name and the FFA logo on them. The signs were received as a gift from Tim Esser and the Central Valley Ag.
"These signs are great," says FFA sponsor Cal Williams. "We really appreciated the gift from Tim and CVA."
At the FFA State Convention a few weeks ago, Mr. Williams and several members of the organization were conversing with Mr. Esser about the need for additional signage. Mr. Esser said, "Let me see what I can do." Several days later, Mr. Esser generously presented the organization with the gift of two new FFA signs. Currently one sign is on display in the FFA display case at the high school, while the other hangs on the wall of Mr Williams' classroom.
Central Valley Ag is an agricultural cooperative that provides the full gamut of ag-related services to farmers in a large area of Central and Northeastern Nebraska. Mr. Esser works for CVA as Vice-President of Human Resources
Thank you, Mr. Esser and CVA!

Thursday, March 5th, CVA and Jim Welch (CVA Business Advisor) spoke with a group of young adults about career opportunities in Agriculture and Leadership skills. Bloomfield Schools hosted the event and grades 7-12 attended the afternoon seminar. The presentation started out with CVA handing each attending student a FFA/CVA T-shirt. The event was initially meant for FFA students from Bloomfield, Niobrara and Wausa, but Niobrara and Wausa schools were not able to attend. The opportunity to hear Jim Welch speak was so attractive that the entire student body was included (approximately 80 students)! We handed out FFA t-shirts to ALL who attended, which will help promote the FFA organization with non-FFA students. Holding events such as these for local area schools is just one way Central Valley Ag supports the FFA program and the future of agriculture in our area.

CVA Speaks At Area Schools on "The Top Five Reasons to Choose Agriculture and Leading in the Future"Wednesday, January 21st CVA and Jim Welch (CVA Business Advisor) lead two groups of young adults through career opportunities in Agriculture and Leadership skills. Elgin Public and Pope John high schools were one group in Elgin, NE in the morning and Wheeler Central high school at Bartlett, NE in the afternoon. The presentation started out with CVA handing each attending student (grades 7-12) a FFA/CVA T-shirt. The event was initially meant for FFA involved students but the opportunity to hear Jim Welch speak was so attractive that the entire student body wanted in! We handed out FFA t-shirts to ALL who attended, which will help promote the FFA organization with non-FFA students. 120 Elgin students and 60 Bartlett students attended the presentation. We have Jim Welch booked for one other day like this in March. We have sent letters to each FFA Instructor (in the CVA area) to remind them of the opportunities CVA can provide. First come first serve having Jim Welch, “The Growth Leader” to come to their school.
