How can Supersport turn your horse into a “Super horse”?

July 30, 2018

As a horse owner, I constantly strive to keep my horses looking and feeling their best. Purina launched an amino acid supplement called Supersport a few years ago, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results I have seen in my horses. This supplement is scientifically formulated to support recovery, performance and muscle mass. Supersport is recommended for equine athletes of all ages and disciplines. When you think of Supersport think RPM.

RECOVERY: Rapid recovery of muscle cell integrity after exercise to help horses bounce back faster
PERFORMANCE: Increased exercise capacity for higher performance over a longer period of time
MUSCLE MASS: Supports muscle development for a more athletic body type.

So how does this product work? By supplementing your horse with Supersport you will find it has many features and benefits. Supersport is in a pelleted form which encourages consistent intake and its grain free for horses requiring a carb restricted diet. Supersport contains a proprietary blend of amino acids, vitamins, and minerals proven to support muscle performance. Lysine is the number one most limiting amino acid in a horse and Supersport contains the essential amino acids Lysine, Threonine and Methionine. These amino acids are what support muscle development, protection, and repair.  In published scientific research, feeding Purina SuperSport showed significant results in faster muscle recovery which is very important to top equine athletes. Creatine kinase, an indicator of muscle strain or damage, returned to pre-exercise levels 24 hours after exercise in horses receiving Purina SuperSport supplement. Horses on an alfalfa supplement showed creatine kinase levels that remained significantly elevated 24 hours post-exercise. Along with amino acids Supersport provides high-quality proteins like whey and other highly digestible sources. Antioxidants including Vitamin E help address the negative effects of free radicals.  During exercise testing, supplemented horses showed an increase in top speed and time to fatigue compared to non-supplemented horses. Muscle mass in supplemented horses also showed a larger forearm muscle circumference and less body fat than non-supplemented horses. Depending on the weight of your horse feeding rate is anywhere from ½ lb to ¾ lb daily and the 25lb bag lasts around 50 days. Results are normally seen after feeding a bag, but I noticed major changes in my horse as soon as two weeks. This product gave her the muscle tone and athletic appearance I was looking for.
