Central Valley Ag's (CVA) newly appointed President/CEO, Nic McCarthy, isn't new to the cooperative, or the values it stands for. Nic began his career at CVA as an applicator. Over the years, he has served in a variety of sales, operations, and leadership roles, joining the senior leadership team as SVP of Agronomy in 2019. His journey exemplifies dedication, integrity, and a strong belief in cooperative principles.

Originally from Wisner, Neb., Nic discovered his passion for agriculture early in life. Active in his local FFA chapter, he developed a love for leadership that carried through to his professional career. He later earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Agronomy from Northeast Community College.

"I'm incredibly thankful for the opportunities I've had at CVA," said Nic. "I've been surrounded by people who were willing to invest in me, and give me room to grow. That's something I want to continue, helping others build fulfilling careers within this organization."

As CEO, Nic is fostering a workplace culture that employees not only feel supported but are given tools and trust to advance their roles within CVA. With encouragement and dedication, Nic remains focused on advancing the opportunities for those at Central Valley Ag.

"Our culture is built on grit, humility, and a deep commitment to serving others," Nic said. "Success here isn't about having a specific background or title. It's about being dedicated, eager to learn, and focused on doing what's right for the team and the member-owners we serve."

Nic remains dedicated to CVA's mission - Embracing the Cooperative Spirit to deliver value to our member-owners - and continues to be committed to its core values. Especially as they relate to customer service. He believes that by educating and recruiting from within, the cooperative can better equip its employees to serve customers at the highest level.

"I started at CVA as an applicator, and I've never forgotten those early days in the field. What's made the difference in my career, and what makes CVA special; is the opportunity for anyone here to grow if they're willing to work hard, lead with integrity, and invest in others. The American Dream is still alive at CVA, and it's not reserved for a few. It's available to anyone ready to chase it," said Nic.

Nic resides in York, Neb. with his wife, Jenny, and their two children.
