Cooperatives are looking to the future this October

Oct 12, 2018

The theme of this year’s National Co-op Month, “Co-ops See the Future,” embodies what co-ops envision and work to achieve every day—a more sustainable and inclusive tomorrow.

Celebrated by cooperatives nationwide during the month of October, Co-op Month is an opportunity to celebrate the many ways cooperatives are using innovation to create shared prosperity for their members and communities.

With more than 40,000 cooperatives creating stable jobs and a more sustainable economy across the U.S., co-ops represent a proven way to do business and build communities.

“Central Valley Ag (CVA) is owned by farmers, created by farmers, for the benefit of farmers. That is very simply why we exist. To serve farmers, add value to their organizations, to help them be more profitable, and bring them ideas, products, services and facilities that meet their needs,” said Carl Dickinson, CVA CEO/President. “We want to do that in the cooperative fashion. The cooperative model is all about working together for the benefit of the individual. That is what we want to achieve.”

CVA employees across Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa are celebrating National Co-op Month throughout October with location photos, various events and sharing cooperative fun facts on CVA’s social media platforms. A proclamation recognizing October as Cooperative Month for each state was signed at separate ceremonies by Kansas Governor Coyler, Nebraska Governor Ricketts, and Iowa Governor Reynolds.

Community members are encouraged to take part in the celebration through their local CVA location. Visit cvacoop.com to learn what events are happening in your area.
