Covering the worst-case scenario with the Cenex Total Protection Plan

Aug 14, 2018

Allyn File was presented with a $18,572.95 check for coverage on his McCormick tractor enrolled in the Cenex Total Protection Plan® through Central Valley Ag (CVA). From left to right: Mark Pollet, Petroleum Service Technician, CVA, Matt File, Lora Pfeifer, CHS Refined Fuels District Manager, Allyn File and Jed Miller, CHS Lubricants District Manager.

Allyn File, who had just finished feeding his cattle last February, knew something was very wrong when his 5-year-old McCormick MTX 145 tractor started billowing white smoke. He managed to coast the tractor off the gravel road before it came to a halt. He thought there was probably an issue with the injectors, and he was right. But it was worse than that. It turned out that when the injectors went bad, they dumped so much fuel in the engine that the pistons started melting. “It was the worst-case scenario that there was,” File said.

Fortunately, File keeps all his qualified equipment covered through the Cenex Total Protection Plan®, which protects new equipment for up to 10 years or 10,000 hours and used equipment for up to 8 years or 8,000 hours, with no deductible. File has been using Cenex® fuels and lubricants for the past 30-plus years. “That oil has always, treated us good – very good,” File said. “And we’ve never thought about running anything else for that matter.” Importantly, File regularly maintains his equipment and sends in his used oil analysis through LubeScan®.

File’s decades of loyalty paid off when he received a check from the Cenex Total Protection Plan® for $18,572.95 to cover the repair bill. Thanks to the simple claims process and help from Central Valley Ag, File was able to get his McCormick operational with no headaches. “I was treated great,” File said. “My co-op just took care of everything. I don’t know how it could have been any better.”

File said he would recommend the Cenex Total Protection Plan® to anyone. “One hundred percent satisfied,” he said. “When I did need help, there were no questions asked. They just took care of it, and you can’t put a price on that.”
