CVA Donates Anhydrous Tank to Columbus Fire Department

May 22, 2018

(Columbus, NE) – Central Valley Ag (CVA) is committed to growing a culture that promotes the health and safety of its employees and patrons. Not only within CVA but in the communities surrounding its locations. On May 4, 2018, members of Central Valley Ag (CVA) delivered a used anhydrous tank to the Columbus Fire Department Training Facility.

Central Valley Ag and the Columbus Fire Department have built a partnership to share information and expertise. Through this partnership, the idea came about to provide the tank as a training tool.

The tank, no longer of use to CVA, will provide a realistic prop for training purposes. “We’ve gotten our operational use out of this tank, and the Columbus Fire Team can utilize this resource for many years to come,” said Steve Wangler, Director of Safety and Compliance for CVA. “I believe this is one of the best things we have done with a piece of equipment that CVA has no use for anymore.”

Fire Chief, Dan Miller, agreed that the tank is an excellent addition to the training facility, “The Columbus hazmat team comes to this facility to specifically practice and train on anhydrous leak scenarios. In the past, we would have to travel off-site to find a tank or mimic with another object. Having an actual anhydrous tank is a great tool for us to train and be as prepared as possible for any emergency situations involving an anhydrous tank.”

“We will continue to look for ways to give back to our CVA communities and build partnerships with local response teams, as we have here in Columbus,” said Brent Reichmuth, CVA Region 3 Operations Manager. “By working together, we will be able to provide safer environments for our employees, patrons and the community.”
