2023 Internship Program

Alex Benson is an ACS Intern in his hometown of Clay Center, KS this summer. He will be a Junior studying Agricultural Technology Management at Kansas State University this fall. 

Why did you pick your major?

I chose the ATM major because I am interested in the new technology in Agriculture. I also like the opportunities that the ATM degree presents.

Why did you apply for an Internship at CVA?

I applied for an Internship at CVA because I am interested in a career in the field of Agronomy and Precision Ag. CVA presented an opportunity to learn about both.

In what ways would you like to create value as an intern at CVA?

I would like to create value as an intern by assisting producers in making management decisions. I would also like to create value by helping out where I can complete tasks in a more timely manner.

Allyson Selting is an Operations Intern in her hometown of Elgin, NE this summer. She will be a Junior studying Agricultural Education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln this fall.

Why did you pick your major?

I chose Ag Education because I had a positive experience with Ag Education in high school, and I wanted to give that same experience to future students. I also found that Ag Education allows me to be involved in all facets of agriculture.

Why did you apply for an Internship at CVA?

I applied for an internship at CVA because I thought it would be a great opportunity to see how a company that has helped my family farm for years works. I also thought I would learn more about the agronomy side of agriculture, which I am not as familiar with.

In what ways would you like to create value as an intern at CVA?

I would like to create value as an intern by bringing new knowledge and information to my location. I also would like to add to the positive work culture at CVA.

Brandon Kneifl is an Operations Intern in Wakefield, NE this summer. His hometown is Newcastle, NE. He will be a Sophomore studying Precision Ag at Northeast Community College this fall.

Why did you pick your major?

I chose to major in Precision Ag so that I could learn more about the technological aspects of farming.

Why did you apply for an Internship at CVA?

I applied for an internship at CVA because we have been doing business with CVA for years on our farm, and I have always thought it is a great company.

In what ways would you like to create value as an intern at CVA?

I would like to create value as an intern by contributing to a positive work environment and working hard to help others.

Breanna Heeren is a Sales Intern in York, Hampton, and Henderson, NE this summer. Her hometown is Fullerton, NE. She will be a Senior studying Agribusiness at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln this fall.

Why did you pick your major?

I chose to major in Agribusiness because I have always had a passion for agriculture and enjoy learning more about numbers, economics, and accounting.  

Why did you apply for an Internship at CVA?

I applied for an internship at CVA because I thoroughly enjoyed my internship with CVA last summer. I love CVA's core values, the people, and all of the components that make it the best cooperative.

In what ways would you like to create value as an intern at CVA?

I would like to create value as an intern by striving to be a life-long learner every day I am at CVA. Whether I am the scale lady at the elevator or walking fields with a grower, there is always an opportunity to learn, and I am proud to know as much as I do so early in my career.

Brittany Preister is an Operations Intern in Tilden, NE this summer. Her hometown is Albion, NE. She will be a Sophomore studying Diversified Ag and Animal Science at Northeast Community College this fall.

Why did you pick your major?

I chose to major in Diversified Ag and Animal Science because I love raising cattle on my family's farm and want to learn more about agriculture.

I applied for an internship at CVA because my cousin who works at CVA in Humphrey recommended it. She said that interning at CVA would be an amazing opportunity for me.

In what ways would you like to create value as an intern at CVA?

I would like to create value as an intern by helping out wherever I can. 

Brock Merkel is a Sales Intern in Concordia, KS this summer. His hometown is Lincoln, NE. He will be a Junior studying Agribusiness at Kansas State University this fall.

Why did you pick your major?

I chose to major in Agribusiness because I really like agriculture and being outdoors. I also enjoy talking with farmers.

I would like to create value as an intern by helping out other employees and expanding CVA's reach to new growers.

Brooklynn Fiscus is an Operations Intern in Bloomfield, NE this summer. Her hometown is Crofton, NE. She will be a Sophomore studying Precision Ag at South Dakota State University this fall.

I chose to major in Precision Ag because I knew I wanted to be a part of the changes and innovations in agriculture. Precision Ag allows me to be a part of this change while also continuously learning and growing in agriculture.

I applied for an internship at CVA because I wanted to learn everything I could about the cooperative side of agriculture. I felt that CVA could teach me about valuable aspects of this part of the agricultural industry.

In what ways would you like to create value as an intern at CVA?

I would like to create value as an intern by learning as much as I can so that I can contribute to the team.

Bryce Wemhoff is a Sales Intern in Humphrey, NE this summer. His hometown is Lincoln, NE. He will be a Junior studying Agronomy at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln this fall.

I chose to major in Agronomy because I am interested in agriculture and want to help farmers develop crops to their highest potential.

I applied for an internship at CVA because of the positive experiences my classmates have had with the company regarding personal development along with the community.

I would like to create value as an intern by being a positive representative for CVA through conversations with friends, classmates, and others, as well as being a promoter of the agricultural community.

Why did you pick your major?

I chose to major in Precision Ag because I want to be involved in agriculture. It is the industry that I have always been most passionate about.

I would like to create value as an intern by continuously learning new things and being helpful to my coworkers.

I chose to major in Plant Biology because I enjoy learning more about plants and agronomy.

I chose to major in Ag Economics because I enjoy learning about math, agriculture, and business.

I applied for an internship at CVA because my family has been a long-time customer of CVA, and I have always thought it was a nice cooperative. I was also encouraged by past interns and employees to apply. 

In what ways would you like to create value as an intern at CVA?

I would like to create value as an intern by working hard, reaching out to younger people, and learning something new every day. I am excited about all aspects of this opportunity.

Coy Stomm is an Operations Intern in Junction and Greenleaf, KS this summer. His hometown is Washington, KS. He will be a Sophomore studying Agronomy at Kansas State University this fall.

Why did you pick your major?

I chose to major in Agronomy because I want to help improve my family's operation. Our operation has the opportunity to grow in many areas, and I want to learn what those areas are. I would like to learn enough about crops so that I can help others as well.

I applied for an internship at CVA because I was encouraged to apply by my location supervisor. I learned more about the opportunities CVA had for interns, and I did not hesitate to apply.

In what ways would you like to create value as an intern at CVA?

I would like to create value as an intern by trying to learn as much as possible and contribute as much as I can to the cooperative.

Devon Chambliess is an Operations Intern in his hometown of Oakland, NE this summer. He will be a Sophomore studying Agronomy at Northeast Community College this fall.

Why did you pick your major?

I chose to major in Agronomy because I wanted to learn more about agriculture. I enjoy learning about soil sampling and crop scouting.

I chose to major in Ag Economics because I knew I wanted to work in an agricultural field. I knew there would be several career options in Ag Economics after college.

In what ways would you like to create value as an intern at CVA?

I would like to create value as an intern by working to give back to CVA and the ag industry as a whole.

Ethan Ankeny is an Operations Intern in Wakefield, NE this summer. His hometown is Wayne, NE. He will be a Sophomore studying Agronomy at Northeast Community College this fall.

Why did you pick your major?

I chose to major in Agronomy because I love farming and want to learn more about anything that has to do with diesel engines and crops.

Ethan Leidig is an Operations Intern in Beloit, KS this summer. His hometown is Phillipsburg, KS. He will be a Senior studying Agribusiness at Kansas State University this fall.

Why did you pick your major?

I chose to major in Agribusiness because I knew there wasn't room for me to continue working on my family's farm, so I chose a career that gives back to farmers.

I applied for an internship at CVA because I wanted to explore an array of jobs within the fields of agriculture and agronomy.

In what ways would you like to create value as an intern at CVA?

I would like to create value as an intern by increasing my overall knowledge and encouraging deeper thinking to provide more than just a service to our customers. 

Faith Fellows is a Sales Intern in Benedict and York, NE this summer. Her hometown is Stromsburg, NE. She will be a Senior studying Agribusiness at Northwest Missouri State University this fall.

Why did you pick your major?

I chose to major in Agribusiness because I knew it would be a useful major that would provide me with the knowledge I will need in my future career. It is a broad subject that touches many areas.

I applied for an internship at CVA because it has always been a prominent part of my community growing up. Plus, CVA's core values align with some of my own.

In what ways would you like to create value as an intern at CVA?

I would like to create value as an intern by working to the best of my ability. I will ask questions and build relationships with customers, interns, and anyone I come across in the cooperative.

Faith Junck is a Marketing Intern in Oakland, NE this summer. Her hometown is Carroll, NE. She will be a Senior studying Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Communication at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln this fall.

Why did you pick your major?

I chose to major in Ag Communications because I wanted to communicate with consumers about their food. I love the design components of my major and look forward to being an advocate for agriculture in my career. 

Why did you apply for an Internship at CVA?

I applied for an internship at CVA because I was impressed with the variety of opportunities that CVA had to offer. I met with CVA representatives at my university's career fair and could tell that CVA would provide an internship that cared for me personally while helping me grow professionally. 

In what ways would you like to create value as an intern at CVA?

I would like to create value as an intern by bringing a fresh perspective from my own creative ability and skills that I have gained from other work experiences. I am excited to work on a marketing team and learn from other marketing professionals!

Garrett Rasmussen is a Sales Intern in Tilden, NE this summer. His hometown is Albion, NE. He will be a Sophomore studying Agribusiness at Doane University this fall.

Why did you pick your major?

I chose to major in Agribusiness because I grew up with family in agriculture and have always wanted to work in the agricultural industry as well.

I applied for an internship at CVA because my dad is an FSA, and I wanted to expand my knowledge of what he does on a daily basis.

I would like to create value as an intern by being a hard worker and learning from those who have more experience than I do.

I chose to major in Agribusiness and Farm and Ranch Management because I want to return home one day to work on the farm with my family. I will be part of the 5th generation of Borgerding's on our family's homestead.

I applied for an internship at CVA because it is a business that our farm utilizes every year.

I would like to create value as an intern by improving customer relations and providing quality service to our members in an efficient manner.

I chose to major in Animal Science because I have loved animals from a young age.

I chose to major in ATM because it is a happy medium of my interests in agriculture and mechanics.

I chose to major in Marketing and Management because I knew I wanted to do something in business. I have always liked working with people and digital content creation, so I chose Marketing and Management.

I applied for an internship at CVA because I wanted a good hands-on marketing experience while also getting to live at home. I had a friend do CVA's marketing internship in the past and they loved it. I knew it was a good opportunity, so I am excited to be a part of the CVA team.

I would like to create value as an intern by bringing new insight and ideas to our marketing projects. I want to use my young mind to help embrace new trends.

I chose to major in Mechanized Agriculture because I want to add value to my family farm.

I chose to major in Animal Science and Agribusiness because I wanted to learn more about business in agriculture and potentially run a business in the future.

I chose to major in Agribusiness because I knew I wanted to work in agriculture and there are several career pathways in agribusiness.

I applied for an internship at CVA to step outside of my comfort zone and try something that I have not had much experience with.

I would like to create value as an intern by assisting in whatever needs to be done and always being willing to lend a helping hand.

Matthew Reese is an Operations Intern in Ulysses, NE this summer. His hometown is Stanton, NE. He will be a Sophomore studying Mechanized Systems Management at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln this fall.

Why did you pick your major?

I chose to major in Mechanized Systems Management because it felt like a practical alternative to engineering that provided a more direct relationship with agriculture.

Why did you apply for an Internship at CVA?

I applied for an internship at CVA because I wanted to gain experience working in a cooperative and explore opportunities in agronomy and agriculture as a whole.

In what ways would you like to create value as an intern at CVA?

I would like to create value as an intern by working as hard as I can to better CVA and its customers while maintaining a willingness to learn and grow within the cooperative.

Nicholas Kinzer is an ACS Intern in Waco, NE this summer. His hometown is Columbus, NE. He will be a Senior studying Agronomy at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln this fall.

Why did you pick your major?

I chose to major in Agronomy because I have always enjoyed science and being outdoors. Agronomy seemed like a good blend.

I applied for an internship at CVA because I did not grow up in agriculture and wanted to work for a company that focuses on innovation.

In what ways would you like to create value as an intern at CVA?

I would like to create value as an intern by providing an outsider's perspective on farming and agriculture without any previous notions.

Nick Miller is an Energy Sales Intern in Le Mars, IA this summer. His hometown is Sioux City, IA. He will be a Sophomore studying Marketing at Iowa State University this fall.

Why did you pick your major?

I chose to major in Marketing because I want to work in sales. Marketing goes hand-in-hand with earning my sales certificate.

I applied for an internship at CVA because it provides the opportunity to gain more experience in sales, and I find agriculture and energy sales interesting.

In what ways would you like to create value as an intern at CVA?

I would like to create value as an intern by creating relationships with customers and representing the cooperative to the best of my ability.

Olivia McMann is an Operations Intern in Tamora, NE this summer. Her hometown is Seward, NE. She will be a Freshman at Nebraska Wesleyan University this fall.

Why did you apply for an Internship at CVA?

I applied for an internship at CVA because I thought it would be a good learning opportunity. 

In what ways would you like to create value as an intern at CVA?

I would like to create value as an intern by becoming part of the company, embracing my individual role within CVA, and contributing to the company culture. 

Patrick Dietz is an Operations Intern in Bradshaw, NE this summer. His hometown is Grafton, NE. He will be a Junior at Concordia University studying Radiation Science Technology.

Why did you pick your major?

I picked Radiation Science Technology because my grandpa did it for many years and I wanted to try it out. I wanted to see if I wanted to follow in his footsteps.

I applied for an internship at CVA because I wanted to learn new skills that provide me with greater opportunities in life.

In what ways would you like to create value as an intern at CVA?

I would like to create value as an intern by being a "jack of all trades" and helping out wherever I can.

R.J. Bayer is a Sales Intern in Humphrey, Ne this summer. His hometown is Howells, NE. He will be a Sophomore studying Agribusiness at Northeast Community College this fall.

Why did you pick your major?

I chose to major in Agribusiness because my father went down this path and ended up running his own crop insurance company before he passed. I feel like this suits my interests and goal to be successful like my dad. 

Why did you apply for an Internship at CVA?

I applied for an internship at CVA because I wanted an internship that would challenge me to learn and set me up for success. After talking with CVA representatives, I decided it was the best fit for me. 

In what ways would you like to create value as an intern at CVA?

I would like to create value as an intern by soaking up as much information as I can and distributing that knowledge in the work force. I will be trustworthy and reliable. 

Tanner Pfeifer is an Operations Intern in his hometown of Humphrey, NE this summer. He will be a Sophomore at Northeast Community College this fall.

I applied for an internship at CVA because I wanted to build my resume and am interested in building connections within CVA.

I chose to major in Agribusiness because I wanted to become more involved in agriculture. It is an essential industry.

I would like to create value as an intern by being a reliable employee that works to benefit the company while also learning from my experiences. 

Trey Hoeper is an Operations Intern in Ulysses, NE this summer. His hometown is Raymore, MO. He will be a Senior studying Marketing at Northwest Missouri State University this fall.

I chose to major in Marketing because I am a big people person. I love talking and interacting with others.

I applied for an internship at CVA because I have always wanted to be part of an agricultural program. I talked with a friend who worked with CVA last summer, and it seemed like a great fit for me.

I would like to create value as an intern by continuously learning. This internship will lead me in the right direction to help me succeed not only in the present but for the rest of my career.

Zander Ernst is an Operations Intern in Hinton, IA this summer. His hometown is Sioux City, IA. He will be a Sophomore studying Agronomy and Agribusiness at Morningside College this fall.

I chose to major in Agronomy and Agribusiness because I am passionate about agriculture.

Tristan Miller is an Operations Intern in Randolph, NE this summer. His hometown is Pierce, NE. He will be a Junior studying Mechanized Systems Management at University of Nebraska-Lincoln this fall.

Why did you pick your major?

I picked MSM because it suits my interests in technology along with agriculture. It also enables me to come back home and work when I graduate.

Why did you apply for an Internship at CVA?

I applied to CVA because it was close to home and this location encompasses many aspects of Ag I would like to learn more about. It was also a job that would keep me very busy during the week.

In what ways would you like to create value as an intern at CVA?

I would like to create value as an intern by being able to successfully run the day-to-day operations in a co-op. I also have the knowledge to work on and operate many different types of equipment.
