CVA Ag Awareness Day

On December 6th, 2023, Central Valley Ag (CVA)'s Region 5 proudly hosted its first-ever Ag Awareness Day in York, Neb.

CVA delivered various informative workshops that focused on key aspects of agriculture. These workshops, covering topics such as Grain Bin Safety, Grain Markets, Agronomy Operations Safety, Fertilizers, Value-Added Grains, and Careers in Agriculture, were designed to provide students with a solid foundation of practical knowledge. Additionally, the workshops were highly interactive, enabling students to gain hands-on experience that ranged from witnessing a demonstration of grain bin entrapment to riding in a sprayer.

The event had a fantastic turnout of students from Central City, Aurora, High Plains, York, McCool Junction, and Heartland schools, all eager to learn more. CVA Ag Awareness Day showcased the various career paths in agriculture, from grain marketing to IT, enabling students to explore the various avenues agriculture provides.

"There are so many jobs at CVA and within the agriculture industry," said Sabryna Boston, a sophomore at York High School, "CVA's Ag Awareness Day helped me see the different careers that agriculture can provide while having hands-on opportunities. I am thankful to CVA for providing us students with such a fun, educational day!"

The team at CVA had been planning this event for the students for awhile, working to provide opportunities for learning through demonstrations and presentations. The goal of the event was to make it beneficial for the students, and the team worked hard to create fun and educational workshops. "We put in a lot of effort to ensure that this event was a success," said Chantelle Schultz, an employee of CVA. "We collaborated to create enjoyable and informative workshops for the students, and I believe we succeeded."
